.jpg)  On February 15 – 20 we held our adaptive camp in Sorochany recreation centre. We had become friends with hospitable management of this ski resort last winter, then we had our summer camp here and now came together with students of the boarding-school # 4: seventh graders and a group of boarding-school leavers.

.jpg) .jpg) At the end of January, on 26-30, a group of Maria’s children went to Beslan to visit school #1. There was an international team: students, clowns, puppeteers - from Moscow, St.Petersburg, Great Britain, Spain, Italy and Holland. This time we decided to repeat the format of our very first visit to Beslan, when there were all kinds of workshops offered to children, such as arts, puppet show, make-up, jugglery and other clowns’ and circus’s tricks, city dance, games and improvisation. For two and a half days pupils from different groups participated in the workshops and together with us by the end of the third day prepared a show to demonstrate to their friends what they had learned. |

.jpg)  For New Year holidays we received a lot of tickets to shows for children. It was very good because not all of our children left for winter camps during holidays but all of them would like to visit new interesting places, to receive presents and watch shows and performances during holidays.

In December our studio participated in a number of charitable New Year fairs. We were raising funds to continue our programs, such as a trip to Beslan in January and our winter camp in February. The funds raised by our centre are as follows: Charitable Bazaar of Doroga Vmeste Charitable Fund – 11,500 Rubles, Christmas Fair in the Embassy of France – 12,850 Rubles, Fair of the Centre of Correctional Pedagogics – 12,200 Rubles, Dushevniy Bazaar Charitable Fair – 36,474 Rubles, Our own fair at Suschevskaya studio – 16,200 Rubles, Internations Christmas Celebration at Vinzavod Art Centre - 7000 Rubles, Christmas at Vinzavod Art Centre, Detskiye Serdtsa Charitable Foundation – 11,000 Rubles. |

 .jpg) For the second time, thanks to our volunteers, children from the boarding school #7 had an opportunity to join a wonderful New Year celebration in Polenovo Museum-Estate.
Valentina Mironova, volunteer: We came to Polenovo on December, 28. There is a New Year tree in the main room of the estate and the celebration is held in a warm and friendly atmosphere of the beginning of the 19th century with round dances, poems and a play produced by the museum staff and students of the local school. It is a wonderful place, people are very nice and our children are very welcome here. They were singing, participated in round dances and at the end of the performance each of them gave a calendar and a hand-made card to an actor whom he liked most of all. |

.jpg)  On December, 25 our volunteers invited children from the boarding school #11 to the gala-concert of our famous ice-skaters and their friends: actors of theatre, cinema and variety.
Valentina Mironova, volunteer: Unfortunately, children were 30 minutes late for the beginning of the show due to the bad weather – rain and sleet. However, this was the only disappointment of the day. |

  On December, 12 we visited boarding school in the town of Voskresensk and together with the pupils were painting walls in the dinning-room, playing games and had tea with some sweet stuff. The trip went very well. There were 20 of us altogether. Some volunteers joined such trip for the first time.
On this trip we went with the students from Zolotoye Secheniye School, they brought a team game Parachute with them and both children and adults enjoyed it. The funds for the trip were provided by UNISEF and from the donations of Deutsche Bank, and we are very thankful to them. We made very good friends with children and boarding school Principal Marina Ivanovna, so we hope to come back again. |

.jpg)  On December, 2 Dobroserdiye Charitable Fund invited children from our studio to the Moscow International House of Music.
That evening 28 pupils from boarding-school #4 and 8 children from families with low income and many children together with adults, who accompanied them and boarding schools’ graduates found themselves in a Fairyland. |

 On November, 19 our friends and partners from Italian non-profit organization «MIR – Amici dei bambini di Maria» submitted a report on our cooperative work at the conference held by Italian non-profit association Amici Della Torre, Lekko Province.
Together with «MIR – Amici dei bambini di Maria» in May 2008 we started On the Roads of Fairy Tales project, when during summer holidays Italian families played host to children from the correctional boarding school #4. This summer we had already 13 children who have been staying in Italy for a month. The result of the conference was that five more Italian families decided to receive our children the coming summer. Thank you so much, our old and new Italian friends! The children remember their time in Italy as a miracle and look forward to their next summer holidays. |

.jpg)  Our traditional annual exhibition Whirligig of Smiles was held at the Central House of Artists in November, 6 – 15. Besides the traditional painting, ceramics and patchwork, this year exhibition introduced our batik and felting works. The attendants enjoyed the brightness and variety of this year exhibits.
On the 10th of November children from all our boarding schools arrived for the special event of opening the exhibition. There was a concert held in a big auditorium. The main item of the celebration was the boarding school #4 brass band, which has celebrated the 30th anniversary this year. Certainly, the clowns with wonderful Patch shared this day with us. Thank you, all volunteers who prepared and led the event. |
