A Tasty Visit

On the last day of winter, February 28, with children from the boarding-school #4 we were invited to the Italian bakery “Viva Italia” to welcome the coming spring.

Together with the owner of the bakery, who is our good friend, and his wonderful helper children baked a huge fruit pie decorated with snails which were made of dough. The pie looked like an edible picture “Snails on a walk”, which is a new art form for us. The youngest guests from the 2nd grade had an opportunity to watch the baking process for the first time: how to break eggs, to make dough, to grind citron.

The seniors from the 9th grade vice versa acted as experienced cooks and managed to prepare the fruit filling for the pie very skillfully.

While waiting for the pie, children made Italian pasta from three types of pasta dough, which had been prepared in advance. They rolled the dough out and cut it into pasta with a special pasta machine. In a half an hour we were enjoying the delicious three-colored pasta.

The tasting of the pie completed our culinary visit.

Thank you, Kapiton Dubinin and Galina for your wonderful culinary excursion!
